This letter thanked the AMS President and others for their response to my suggestion that the AMS issue an apology for the historical mistreatment of African-Americans. The AMS responded to my request by forming a 7-person committee that issued a 76-page report ("Towards a Fully Inclusive Mathematics Profession") and creating a new named fellowship (the AMS Claytor-Gilmer Fellowship).
