Richard Bibbs

About

Welcome! My name is Richard Bibbs. I am a sixth year Ph.D. student in Linguistics at UC Santa Cruz. My research interests lie broadly in phonology, phonetics, psycholinguistics, and fieldwork, but I am especially interested in questions surrounding the phonetics-phonology interface.

Currently I'm working on explaining asymmetrical behavior amongst laryngeal consonants in phonology, and how laryngeals as an environment can affect the perception of vowels. Outside of phonology and phonetics, I've been working on the acceptability, and processing, of preposition doubling and pruning (e.g. The branch on which the raven perched on was brittle.) in English.
