Psychology 140T: Psychology of Trauma

An overview of psychological theory and research on trauma and traumatic stress, including responses to childhood trauma (especially sexual abuse), combat, natural disasters, and terrorism. A variety of theoretical frameworks are presented, including developmental, cognitive, neuropsychological, clinical, and social/contextual. The course is designed to acquaint you with some of the key issues, questions, and findings in the study of trauma and traumatic stress, as well as to allow you to develop some of the critical skills needed by research psychologists.
