Introduced November 2018, shipping 2019
Cisco flys this as a entry level switch that replaced the Catalyst 2960-X [intro Summer 2013]. It uses a version of UADP 2.0 that Cisco is characterizing as mini. One UADP ASIC is sufficient to cover 48 access ports and uplink ports. The ASIC has 6 MByte of packet memory. In promotional material Cisco characterizes the family as half the cost per port relative to the 2960-X. An interesting feature of the new switches is that PoE will remain active during a switch reboot -- perhaps saving the time to e.g. restart a client phone or AP.
