CSE 107
Probability and Statistics for Engineers
Lab Assignments General Instructions
Lab assignments will consist of computer simulations of probability models, as described
in the project statements below. The goal of each project will be to determine some
quantity of interest, such as the probability of some event(s), the mean or variance of
a random variable, or the steady state of a random process. You may use any programming
language you are familiar with. If you have no programming experience, you may be able to
use a physical device, like coins or dice, to obtain random outcomes. Each project requires
that you submit a pdf file containing your report of experimentally calculated probabilities,
or other quantities. Some example simulations in python are provided in the examples link
below.
You will submit your files through
Gradescope.
You can access Gradescope via the link, or through
Canvas. Complete the following steps to submit
a Lab Assignment.
Go to Gradescope --> Assignments and click on the link for the Lab Assignment.
Upload your files to that assignment. All sumbissions must be plain text files.
If you have any technical problems with lab submission, contact Teaching Assistant
Kajal Patil (kapatil@ucsc.edu).
