Welcome! On this site, you will learn about the many uses of coconut oil. It is my favorite oil because of its versatility. It is also a great alternative for many beauty products that contain chemicals. *Disclaimer: while I have used coconut oil for these purposes and they worked out for me, they might not work for you.
Coconut oil has many beneficial uses...
- Hygienic purposes
Uses for beauty:
Coconut oil is ultra moisturizing and keeps the skin from being dry. It also has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, which makes it good for wounds (that are not super severe). The oil does a great job at relieving skin that suffers from eczema, stopping itchiness and redness. It can also be used on scars to speed up the fading process. Coconut oil is a good way to even skin tone, based on my experience.
Because coconut oil is moisturizing, it can also be used on hair to mend split ends. The oil conditions hair so that it is much silkier and less dull looking.
Coconut oil can be used on cuticles or dry nails that have been worn down by harsh nail polishes/removers or just if the nails are dry and cracked. The oil helps strengthen nails as well.
Uses for health:
A teaspoon a day helps increase metabolism & gives a boost of energy.
Boosts Immune System
Because of its antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties, it helps fight the bacteria inside your body, thus creating a better environment within.
Uses for Cooking:
Coconut oil can tolerate high temperatures which makes it a good agent to fry foods in.
Can be used to replace sugar because it is sweet but does not contain too much sugars.
Coconut oil is one of the healthiest oils for cooking.
Uses for hygiene:
Rub oil into scalp for a moisturizing effect, eventually healing the scalp from dandruff.
This oil helps shield and acts as a barrier to the underarms, preventing them from giving off an odor.
Can be used to remove dead skin cells from body by adding with sea salt or sugar. Mix the salt/sugar and coconut oil into a paste, then use it on body or lips to create a smoother layer of skin.
Can be used as a substitute for lubricant because of its natural properties.
Just add oil onto a cotton ball or pad and use to remove make-up. The oily-ness helps break down the make-up and leaves skin feeling moisturized without causing breakouts.
Because coconut oil contains lauric acid, it helps get rid of bacteria and plaque. A method to use an oil to whiten teeth is called "Oil Pulling." Swishing about 2 teaspoons of coconut oil in the mouth for 10-30 minutes a day will help strengthen gums and whiten teeth.
