Please respond to the following question in
two pages or less (double spaced). (Needless to say this should be
your own original work.)
In “Academic appointments: Why ignore the advantage of
being right?”, Lewis’s final answer is that different schools of
philosophy have a tacit treaty with each other to ignore their
differences for the purpose of hiring. Is that treaty supposed to be a
convention, a social contract, or something else? Support your answer
by refering to Lewis’s definitions in “Languages and language.”
