curatorial statement:
A carnival is a place of many different places, faces, and feelings. Sometimes it can leave you with awe-inspired and bewildered. Sometimes it's a giant playground, the only one big enough to fill your imagination. And sometimes it's the best place for entertainment, where culture and talent meet. With aid of artist, student, and photographer Marlena McClain, Therese Esposo captures the different senses and faces of carnival culture. This show covers a broad spectrum of entertainment, place, and the people that surround the atmosphereof carnival life.
You get a good idea of some people you might meet there. Entertainers and the entertained make up most of this place of leisure. This show has many performance pieces featuring aztec dancers, tango, and costumes. Many come to see the great feats they can do or the skill developed after many years of practice. For the younger entertained, it is a complete fun-zone. Everything seems to be tailored for your adventure and exploration. The games and prizes are endless and the rides a thrill. The wonderful treats that made mom decide this was a rare occasion of fun. The Entertainers and entertained make it happen. You can't have one without the other.
