Recent Findings

We recently completed a study on
how 9-month-old babies can be taught a new concept through visual observations.
In this study, infants watched a series of teaching events and then received a manual search task.
Infants typically fail in this task until about 12 months of age. However, with the help of the teaching events,
the majority of 9-month-old infants succeeded. We are examining the robustness of this teaching effect in the
current ongoing studies. For example, will infants still remember what they learned a week before? If not, can they be
reminded of what they learned?
