The Nethertons lose the house

The foreclosure notice. The house was sold at auction from the court-house steps (the "Cooper House") August 28, 1931. The mortage foreclosed on was given by the Nethertons to Edna Scott of Scotts Valley. I don't know why she loaned them $2500 in 1925, but they lost the house over it. The house was purchased by the Santa Cruz Land Title Company, Harry J. Bias signed the papers. A few weeks later, a deed of trust was recorded for $2500, Martin and Arlie Moore, trustors. Five years later, they borrowed money from Edna C. Scott. The name in the phone book from 1932 to 1940 is M. D. Moore.

By 1941, Corrill Avilo and Pearl Kuhnes had the house and a loan from Edna Scott, but they went bankrupt in 1943. They never lived in Santa Cruz, but on La Brea in Hollywood. I never found the transfer from the Moores to the Kuhnes. R. V. Gregory lived in the house during the early 40s, and finally, in1943, the house was bought by Glencairn and Bess Ellis, who owned 80 Riverside and a few more lots at this end of the block. I surmise that it is these folks who built the Hidden Court Motel
