Posts on Language Log (newest at the top)

This page is mainly for my own use in tracking down things I said in earlier posts; but let me supply a tip for readers: don't print off my posts or quote them verbatim or email them to friends until they've been up for at least a day or two. I often edit, embellish, or expand them. Eventually I leave them alone to face the judgment of cyberhistory, but I never quite know what I've said or how it looks until I see it up on the site, so I frequently tinker, tamper, dicker, fiddle, or mess with what I've written during the first 36 hours or so. Wait awhile and reload before quoting —GKP
