Technology, Creativity, Innovation
In 2008-2009 the theory group has filed 3 patent applications. We actively engage with research and development groups around the world, putting science into practical use.
Outreach
We are active in organizing courses and workshops destined to increase communication amongst researchers in the field, and to train new generations of scientists. Some recently organized activities include:
• workshop on “Thermoelectric transport: progress on ab-initio and other approaches,
and the interplay with experiment”, CECAM, Lausanne, July 2009.
• symposium on first principles methods in nanoscale transport, JMC11, Strasbourg 2008
• course “Thermal and thermoelectric transport in nanostructured materials”, by N. Mingo, UC Santa Cruz, Fall 2008
• spring school on “Thermics of Nanomaterials and Nanosystems” (scientific committee), Cargèse, France, 2008.
• “GDR nanothermique” meeting for French groups working on nanoscale thermal transport, with 30 participants,
Grenoble, March 2008.
• course: “Nanoscale thermal and thermoelectric transport”, by N. Mingo, UC Santa Cruz, Fall 2007.
