The Mingo group

We are devoted to computational research on the thermal and thermoelectric transport properties of materials. The group is mostly based at the LITEN department of CEA-Grenoble, with an important node of activity at UC Santa Cruz.

Group members:

  • Prof. Natalio Mingo (LITEN), team lead. (CV)

  • Dr. Shidong Wang (LITEN/LETI).

  • Dr. Ivana Savic (LITEN).

  • Chandan Bera (LITEN/Ecole Centrale de Paris), PhD candidate.

  • Prof. Keivan Esfarjani (UCSC).

  • Alumni:

  • Yann Chalopin (Ecole Centrale de Paris), visitor in 2007-8.

  • Current projects:

    • Non-equilibrium Green's function computations of thermal transport (EU).
    • Thermal transport from First-Principles (NSF)
    • Ab-initio Thermoelectric Transport (ANR)
    • Nanoscale thermoelectrics (Fondation Nanosciences)

Nanoparticle Embedded in Alloy Thermoelectrics (NEATs)

pictures In collaboration with A. Shakouri and N. P. Kobayashi from UCSC, we are working to improve the properties of thermoelectric alloys by inserting nanoparticles in them. Some materials of interest include silicide/SiGe, and magnesium stannide-germanide-silicide nanocomposites.
