Homework will be assigned daily and submitted online at the website www.webassign.net. The Class Key for your course is: ucsc 4554 6913.  The access code is included with the purchase of a new book or may be purchased separately online at webassign.net.

Exam 1 will cover the topics from section 4.9 to 6.5 and exam 2 will cover 7.1 to 8.3. The final exam will be comprehensive, but will emphasize the topics from chapter 11.

Grading: There will be two exams worth 100 points each, a comprehensive final exam worth 200 points, and the homework will be worth 100 points for a total of 500 points. At the end of the quarter letter grades will be assigned after careful consideration of the distribution of points, i.e. there will be a curve. Historically the passing line is approximately 65%, but it does vary so do the best you can.

Four hours of section per week are highly recommended. In these sections you will work together with other students on homework and have teaching assistants help you. You may attend any section you like and you may also attend more than four hours per week.
