Ongoing research interests

My long term goal is to understand what shapes the structure and composition of fungal and plant communities in natural ecosystems, and to apply that understanding to better conservation practice. To that end I am involved in a broad range of research projects - most of them collaborative - to unravel the nature and consequences of biotic interactions under diverse conditions. Below are some of the projects in which I am involved.

Phyloepidemiology

Invasive plants and their pests

Emerging diseases - Porroca of Coconut

Forest dynamics

Diseases and the maintenance of diversity

Polypore fungi - rainforests and mangroves

Evolutionary ecology of epifoliar and endophytic fungi

Abiotic conditions, plant diseases, and conservation

Science in plant quarantine and conservation policy
