Netscape Navigator -- a browser of web space, a navigational tool
	Other browsers (AOL, Microsoft Internet Explorer)
What you need to know to use the web 
1. Understanding web addresses (URLs)
	e.g. www.cruzio.com
2. How to get to a web site if you know the address
	Macintosh "file" menu select "open location in navigator" 
	PC "file" menu select "open page" 
3. How to navigate within a web site
	Back and forward, scrolling up and down
4. How to save web page addresses for future use
	bookmarks
5. How to search (next class)

Let's look at cruzio web site
	Browser basics -- title, menus, buttons, location bar, activity bar
	Web page, web site, homepage -- first page of a web site
	links (button, underlined word, or graphic)
		go to another web page to get more info
	scrolling
	forward/back buttons
 	"home" button to get to your home page
	view history ("GO" menu)
bookmarks -- permanent storage of your favorite web addresses
	Macintosh has Bookmarks menu
	PC has Bookmarks button
add one -- "bookmark" menu or button, select "add bookmark"
edit existing bookmarks -- "bookmark" menu/button, select "edit bookmarks"
	"edit" gives you a new window, called "bookmarks", and new menus
to delete one -- "edit" menu, select "clear" on Macintosh
					"delete" on PC
to change name -- "edit" menu, select "get info" on Macintosh
				select "bookmark properties" on PC
	then type over "name" field
to create a bookmark folder -- 
	"file" menu, select "new folder" and give it a name
			to move bookmarks from folder to folder, 
			use drag and drop or cut and paste from edit
menu
print -- "file" menu, "page setup" to make smaller for prints
choose your home page to start your browser
	"edit" menu, select "preferences"
	select "navigator" category
	change home page location, click "ok"

HTML -- Hyper Text Markup Language 
	instructions on how to display a file
	where to put text and graphics
HTTP -- Hyper Text Transport Protocol
	receives URL
	locates remote computer
	retrieves requested URL/file
	loads requested file on your computer
