internet Explorer -- a browser of web space, a navigational tool
	Other browsers (AOL, Netscape Navigator)
What you need to know to use the web 
1. Understanding web addresses (URLs)
	e.g. www.cruzio.com
2. How to get to a web site if you know the address
	"file" menu select "open location" and enter address in address bar
3. How to navigate within a web site
	Back and forward, scrolling up and down
4. How to save web page addresses for future use
	favorites 
5. How to search (next class)

Let's look at cruzio web site  
	browser basics -- title, menus, buttons, tabs, location bar, activity bar
	links (button, underlined word, or graphic)
		go to another web page to get more info
	Web page, web site, homepage -- first page of a web site
	scrolling -- arrows, slider, screen at a time
	forward/back buttons
 	"home" button to get to your home page
favorites -- permanent storage of your favorite web addresses
	there is a favorites menu and a favorites tab
	add one -- "favorites" menu, click "add favorites"
	edit existing favorites -- "favorites" menu, click "organize favorites"
		"organize" gives you a new window, called "favorites" and new menus
		delete one -- select one, hit "delete" key
		create a favorites folder
			"favorites" menu, point to "organize favorites", click "new folder" and give it a name
		to move favorites from folder to folder, use drag and drop or cut and paste
history -- list of web addresses you have visited recently  
	"history" tab or "go" menu
	you can specify how many to save ("edit" menu, Preferences, Advanced)" 

print -- "file" menu, "print preview" and "page setup" to reduce size
font size changes
	"edit"menu, preferences, language and fonts
	choose a font size, click ok to close this window
choose your home page to start your browser
	"edit" menu/preferences/browser display
	change address of home page
HTML -- Hyper Text Markup Language 
	instructions on how to display a file
	where to put text and graphics
HTTP -- Hyper Text Transport Protocol
	receives URL
	locates remote computer
	retrieves requested URL/file
	loads requested file on your computer
