INSTRUCTIONS FOR PARTICIPANTS

STEP #1:  Please read the Welcome and Goals webpages for information about the purpose and goals of this on-line meeting.

STEP #2:  Register if you want to contribute to any of the discussions.

STEP #3:  Click on the Discussion Forum that you are interested in.  You can either join a current conversation thread, or you can initiate a new one.  Look for questions and comments by the moderator, or contact the moderator if you have questions.

STEP #4:  Contribute to another Discussion Forum if you want.  You can contribute to as many as you want.

STEP #5:  Revisit the Discussion Forums as many times as you want.  LOOK FOR NEW QUESTIONS AS THE MODERATORS WILL ATTEMPT TO GUIDE AND FOCUS THE DISCUSSION.  Please note the following timeline and meeting structure:

1 Feb:  Begin discussion to define fundamental science questions.  We expect that open-ended questions will initially lead to many discussion threads.  The moderators will periodically summarize and focus the discussion.  The goal is to define the most pressing and fundamental scientific questions that can be answered by future drilling.

12 Feb:  Begin discussion to define sample/data/measurements and technological need.  Once the scientific questions are defined, we need to define the sampling and measurement objectives, and technological needs.

23 Feb: Begin discussion on strategies to achieve science with limited resources and to integrate amongst platforms.  After defining scientific research questions and needs, we will discuss strategies to maximize scientific return across all disciplines.
